INDIANAPOLIS – The second installment of NCAA Southeast Regional Rankings remained steadfast from where it stood a week ago, leaving No. 14/15 Carson-Newman at the same second-seed spot, as announced on Friday.
These official rankings will help build the South/Southeast Regional tournament scheduled for May 9-11 from the Mission Inn Resort and Club's El Campeon Course in Orlando, Fla., hosted by Rollins College and the Greater Orlando Sports Commission.
Teams that win their respective conference championship with receive automatic bids into each regional tournament. For each region, the top-10 teams will play along with four individuals who are not on the teams included. From there, each super regional will have a specific allotment of berths into the national championship finals. For the South/Southeast regional, seven teams and two individuals will advance.
C-N is looking to make its fourth-straight regional appearance and fifth in six years.
It has been 10 days since the Orange and Blue hit the links for competition, closing out the regular season with a second-place showing at the Tennessee River Rumble.
Through the regular season, the Eagles held a 72.98 scoring average and a 3-10 record against top-25 competition. Their lone win on the year came at the Aflac/Cougar Invitational.
Holding steady at the top of the region for a second-consecutive week is No. 10/11 Lincoln Memorial. Newberry and Queens join C-N and LMU in the region as SAC representatives at No. 8 and 10, respectively.
The Eagles are just days away from the SAC Championship where they will be defending their league title for a second-straight season. That three-day event begins on April 14 at the Camden Country Club in Camden, S.C.
