JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie announced the signing of nine athletes for the 2013 season.

Franco Araujo: A 5-9 striker and winger from Miami, Fla., Araujo played for Oscar Pisano at IMG Academy and graduated in 2013. Araujo led his league in goals both his freshman and sophomore years of high school.

His freshman year in Mexico, Araujo's team won the Pachuca's Tuzo regional tournament, the Torneo de Amistad nationwide tournament, and the Regional Coca Cola tournament both his freshman and sophomore years. Araujo's team won the Savannah Tournament his junior year at IMG Academy and was a semi-finalist at the Disney Cup his senior year.

"He comes from a very well-coached and educated background," Moodie said.

He is the son of Francesca Araujo and intends to major in Business Management.

Robert Bishop: A 5-9 striker and winger from Maryville, Tennessee, Bishop played for Geoff Hamm at Maryville Christian School and graduated in 2013 with 52 goals and 32 assists over his junior and senior seasons.

From 2011 to 2013, Bishop made the All-County team, the All-Tournament team for the Blueridge Classic and the Crusader Classic, was titled best offensive player, and dubbed captain of the Maryville Christian Eagles.

In 2012, Bishop helped his team place third in the Blueridge Classic, second in the Crusader Classic in 2012 and 2013 as well as fourth in the Blueridge Classic in 2013.

Bishop graduated third in his class with a 4.53 GPA with Excellence in Music 2011, Biology 2012, and Physics 2013. A member of the National Honors Society, David Award recipient for Senior Leadership, the son of Britton and Madeline Bishop has not yet decided on a major at C-N.

"He's a great young man," Moodie said. "He's definitely going to be a huge asset to the team."

Duncan Foster: A 6-0 center midfielder and right back makes his way to C-N from Naphill, High Wycombe, UK. He graduated from Royal Grammar School in 2009 and transfers to C-N from Brunel University in London, England.

"He can play a number of positions for us," said Moodie. "He's basically going to be Mr. Utility."

Foster spent two years as Brunel University's captain and earned Club Colours for Football (soccer) twice.

Foster's high school team was the Chesham United Berks & Bucks Cup winner for the 2008-09 season.

In 2012, Foster received academic honors for BSc Sports Science. He is son to Stuart and Linda Foster and will be pursuing his Master's in Business Administration.

Ross Frame: A 5-11 center forward from Welshpool, Powys, UK transfers to C-N from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Frame played for Barry Jones at Cereinion High School. Over a two-season period, Frame scored 91 goals and was named to the Welsh University First Team in 2011. In 2012, he held the record as leading scorer with 41 goals in the All-Welsh League and was titled All-University MVP.

"Ross just came off a season in Wales being the top goal scorer in the country. Last year we had the best defense in the conference but we struggled to score goals," Moodie explained. "We definitely think he's the right man for the job."

While at Cereinion High, Frame and his team became Welsh National U18 Champions. Cardiff Met. became Welsh League Division 3 champions, BUCS League champions and won the BUCS Cup in 2012.

In high school, Frame received 10 GCSE'S and two A-levels in PE and Biology. At university he gained a 2:1 in Sports Coaching degree. Son of Helen Evans, Frame intends to major in Business Administration at C-N.

Jalen Goddard: A 6-2 midfielder from Chattanooga, Tennessee signs with the Eagles. He graduated from East Hamilton High School where he played for John Millard.

His senior year, Goddard became captain and was named to the All-District team, All-Regional team and All-State First Team best of preps. He ended his high school career with 38 goals and 25 assists.

In 2011, his team won district and regional championships and made it to the state semifinals. The following season, the Hurricanes again won district and regional titles and were sub-sectional finalists. His senior year, Goddard led East Hamilton to yet another district and regional title, advancing to the state quarterfinals.

"He's definitely one of those freshmen that we think is going to come in and get minutes for us," Moodie said.

Goddard was named to the Honor Roll. He is the son of Jonathan and Lafaye Goddard and has not yet selected a major.

Johann Lucena Pereira: A 5-10 midfielder from Rio de Janeiro, Brazil transfers to C-N.

He attended St. Patrick's High School and graduated in 2012. Post-graduation, Lucena played Division I for IUPUI in Indianapolis, Indiana.

"This young man is going to have an immediate impact for sure with this squad," Moodie explained. "He brings with him a lot of experience and knowledge of the game of soccer and he definitely fits into our system of play."

He is the son of Monika Lucena and will be majoring in business. He will be joining brother and sophomore midfielder and defender Rurik Pereira as a Carson-Newman Eagle.

Jaschin Nicolai Noll: A 6-1 striker and midfielder from Esens, Niedersachsen, Germany signs with C-N. Noll graduated from Niedersächsisches Internatsgymnasium Esens where he played for Bruno Mönk.

In 2011, he scored 13 goals in 13 games and was the leading scorer in the 7th division. That year, his team went on to win the Sparkassencup. In 2013, he was elected by the fans as the Player of the Season.

"He's very disciplined; he's very organized. He likes the philosophy that we have here and the style of play that we have at Carson-Newman," said Moodie.

Son of Liane Hesselnfeld-Jost, Noll intends to receive his Master's in Business Administration.

Kristian Speake: A 5-10 left back and midfielder of Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, UK transfers to C-N. He played for Christian Edwards at Sir Thomas Picton School. He transfers to C-N from Cardiff Metropolitan University.

Speake has 21 league and cup goals to his name. He holds the record for most appearances for Cardiff Metropolitan at 132. Speake was decorated with the Alun Evans Memorial Award for outstanding commitment to Cardiff Metropolitan soccer.

During Speake's attendance at Cardiff Met., the team won a number of league titles as well as advanced to the quarterfinals of the Welsh Cup. Speake also played tennis in high school when his team obtained the National Tennis Champions title.

"Speake is a very strong left-footed player," explained Moodie. "It wouldn't surprise me to see this young man get on the score sheet throughout the season as a defender."

Son of Susan and Nigel Speake, Kristian will be entering the Master's program for Business Administration.

Teddy Vickers: A 5-5 midfielder out of Franklin, Texas, Vickers played for J. R. Lee at Franklin High School and graduated in 2013.

Vickers led his club team, Houston Texans 95 Red, in goals and assists. He was hailed MVP at a number of all-star camps throughout Texas, as well as in the 2011 Texans vs. Reading FC (London) match.

Teddy was named to the Honor Roll 2009-13 and his intended major at C-N is Social Entrepreneurship. He is the son of Rex and Beth Vickers.

Carson-Newman players report to camp Aug. 14.
