JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman President Randall O'Brien has agreed to skydive with the professionals at Skydive East Tennessee if 1,000 fans turn out to support the soccer teams on Sept. 14 against Wingate. His jump will occur within a week of the Wingate match.

"We are very excited to be hosting this event on our campus again," Carson-Newman head coach Richard Moodie said. "This is arguably one of the greatest events on our campus each year and creates a fantastic environment at our game." Having skydivers open up the home season is a tradition that started a few years ago for the men's team; this is the first year to include the women's team.

Skydivers from Skydive East Tennessee will be jumping out of a plane over campus and landing on McCown Field between the men's and women's soccer games around 7:30 p.m. "Our relationship with Skydive East Tennessee was established through our assistant Francois Dubourdeau and has continued to grow over the years," said Moodie.

The Eagles host Wingate at 5 p.m. for the women and 7:30 p.m. for the men. The Wingate men's team was voted no. 1 in the SAC preseason poll while the women's team is ranked in the top half of the conference.

Moodie: "We hope everyone can join us on September 14.1,000 fans and our very own President O'Brien will skydive!"
