Carson-Newman brings home its second away win of the season

BRISTOL, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (3-2) defeated King (1-3-1) 3-1 on Wednesday afternoon for its second victory on the road.

"We acquired a lot of injuries this week and got some devastating news for some of our players" Carson-Newman head coach Richard Moodie said, "But it was a good opportunity for some other players to start and get minutes."

Ross Frame (Welshpool, Powys, United Kingdom) put in the first two goals for the Eagles. In the 16^th minute, Rurik Pereira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) sent a long ball up the field. Frame collected the ball and struck it from the top of the 18-yard box to the lower right corner of the net.

For his second goal of the game and third of the season, Frame accepted a pass from Kristian Speake (Haverfordwest, Pembrokeshire, United Kingdom) and shot from the left side of the box to the right post in the 22^nd minute.

Frame had six shots during the match and landed all of them on goal. He now leads the Eagles in overall shots, shots on goal and total points with 18, 10 and eight respectively.

"Frame was clinical in front of net and had two fantastic goals," Moodie said. "Likewise, Speake had an amazing strike from 25 yards out."

The third goal for the Eagles came from Speake 38 minutes into the game. Speake received a drop pass from Sindre Welo (Trondheim, Norway) and shot the ball into the right.

Ryan Cobain led the Tornado in shots with five taken and four on net. He got the lone goal for King, his first of the season, off a pass from Eric Wilkening from the right wing to center field where Cobain met the ball and slid it past the C-N keeper.

King outshot the Eagles 17 to 16. Senior captain Rumwald Le Guevel (Vannes, France) made 11 saves to maintain Carson-Newman's lead.

"We looked comfortable and we're excited about what we achieved today," Moodie said. "We are looking forward to another home conference game."
