C-N men’s soccer season comes to a devastating end with a 1-0 loss in the SAC tournament quarterfinals

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman (12-5, 8-3 SAC) had its season cut short with a 1-0 loss to Mars Hill (7-9, 6-5 SAC) on McCown Field Tuesday night.

Gregg Munn scored the lone goal in the 18th minute. The C-N defense cleared a ball outside the 18-yard box where Munn picked it up got a shot off that deflected into the back of the net.

A minute later, senior captain and goalkeeper Rumwald Le Guevel (Vannes, France) was called for a handball outside the box and was issued a red card. The Eagles played the remainder of the match a man down.

Each team got off 12 shots. Serge Kebbeh had three shots for the Lions, two of which were on net.

Rurik Pereira (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) performed well for the Eagles. He had three shots while Nico Noll (Esens, Niedersachsen, Germany) also had three, two of which were on target.

Ross Frame (Welshpool, Powys, United Kingdom) released two shots, both on goal. Frame led the Eagles and the conference in points with 39, assists with 9, and goals with 15 after regular season.

"It was a horrible way to end our season," Carson-Newman head soccer coach Richard Moodie said. "We are appreciative for the support we received from our university, athletic director and fans, and we give thanks to our seniors for their efforts and wish them luck with their future endeavors."
