ROCK HILL, S.C. – Sophomore Tobias Solem Karlsen was named a AstroTurf South Atlantic Conference Co-Player of the Week, the league announced on Monday afternoon.

This marks Karlsen's first career honor from the conference.

"To be recognized for doing something good is always good for you so I just need take it to me and let it push me even further," the sophomore said.

The Kongsvinger, Norway native had a stellar performance on Saturday in the home-opening 4-2 victory against Clayton State. He scored a hat trick on the Lakers, putting up 11 shots.

Two of his three goals came within the first 10 minutes of play with his third finding the back of the net just 20 seconds into the second half.

Now the Eagles look to keep their winning ways heading back onto the road for a midweek matchup with Mars Hill. Karlsen looks for the team to take the confidence they found in the win and extend it.

"We went out and had a really good first half and we just continued in the second half and used that to the best," he said. "When we step on that (3-0) start we had and just keep on going, I think people are going to struggle to take us."

Karlsen was named player of the week alongside Danilo da Silva from Lincoln Memorial.
