Eagles break into United Soccer Coaches' poll at No. 25

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The Carson-Newman men's soccer team has been ranked at No. 25 in the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division II national poll on Tuesday afternoon.

This marks the first time since the team's No. 14 ranking on Nov. 3 2015 that it has found itself in the top-25.

The Eagles stand at 7-1-1 in the season, going 4-0-1 in South Atlantic Conference games. They are undefeated at home through four games.

C-N currently rides a seven-game unbeaten streak with six-straight clean sheets. Of those games not allowing an opposition goal, five consecutive ones have been shutout victories.

The SAC's AstroTurf Player of the Week, Twan Verweij, and the Eagle defense has kept opponents off the scoreboard through 565 minutes of play. The last goal allowed by an opposing team came in a 4-2 victory over Clayton State on Sept. 9 when the Lakers scored in 85th minute of play. The team has allowed just four goals through nine games.

The Eagles prepare to take on Lincoln Memorial in a Wednesday night matchup. Kickoff at McCown Field will be at 7:30 p.m.

Carson-Newman is the only SAC team presented in this week's poll.
