Karlsen lauded as TSWA Player of the Week

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Tennessee Sports Writers Association has named Tobias Solem Karlsen the Men's Soccer Player of the Week, as announced by the TSWA on Tuesday afternoon.

This marks Karlsen's first TSWA honor and the first for C-N since Tom Read received the honor on Sept. 20, 2016.

The Kongsvinger, Norway native had an astounding week scoring five goals on 12 shots, two of those goals were game-winners. He had a hat trick that scored all of C-N's goals on Oct. 4 in a 3-0 over Lincoln Memorial including a goal off of a penalty kick in the 84th minute of play.

The sophomore has scored at least one goal in six of the Eagles' 11 games this season. He has gotten the team on the board first five times in 2017 while scoring goals in the final 10 minutes of regulation in wins against LMU and Catawba this week.

Karlsen leads the team and conference in points (23) and goals (11). His five game-winning goals are a team-best.

Carson-Newman rides into Young Harris, N.C. on a seven-game winning streak for a midweek matchup with the Mountain Lions. That game is slated to begin at 7 p.m. at the Young Harris College Soccer and Lacrosse Field. Video and live stats will be provided by Young Harris while live updates will be available throughout the match from @CNathletics.
