Lyons welcomes Baisden to staff

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Carson-Newman men's soccer head coach Stephen Lyons has announced the addition of David Baisden to his staff this season as a graduate assistant.

Baisden makes his way to Mossy Creek from Tennessee Wesleyan University where he served as a volunteer assistant coach before becoming a full-time assistant during the 2017-18 campaign. He was a four-year starter as a defender for the TWU side before graduating with a degree in Business Administration, General Management.

"I had the pleasure of coaching Dave during my time at Wesleyan and then during his role as assistant," Lyons said of his addition. "He is a young coach with good character who will represent the program well. His experience, knowledge and understanding of the game will be very beneficial to the group."

The Middlesbrough, England native was a highly touted student-athlete at Tennessee Wesleyan. He was named to the NAIA Appalachian Athletic Conference All-Tournament team during the 2014-15 season before being recognized as a back-to-back first team All-Conference player. He closed out his collegiate career as a captain for the Bulldogs during his senior season as well as winning the Stan Harrison Award for the contributions he made to the team and school.

Outside of his collegiate coaching experience, Baisden has also spent time coaching the McMinn United FC U16 and U18 teams in Athens, Tenn.
