INDIANAPOLIS – Carson-Newman has landed at fifth in the initial Southeast Region rankings, as released by the NCAA on Wednesday afternoon.

These rankings will be used in order to make the NCAA Tournament field in November. The top two teams in each region will host first and second round competition during the second weekend of November with the third and quarterfinal rounds the following weekend.

Teams will be vying for a chance to make it to the National Quarterfinals in Pittsburgh, Pa.

The Eagles (7-3-1, 3-2-1 South Atlantic Conference) have posted a 7-3-1 record against teams from the region. They are one of four SAC teams represented in the list.

Young Harris leads the southeast with a perfect 12-0 record. It is the only undefeated team left in the Southeast region and is currently the second-ranked team nationally.

Second in the region is No.  10 Lander at 10-1-1 overall and against Southeast Region sides. The Eagles fell to the Bearcats on Oct. 10 in a 2-1 decision.

No. 21 Limestone lands at No. 3 with an 8-3 tilt followed by Lenoir-Rhyne at No. 4. The Bears have posted a 7-4 record with one of their wins coming over Carson-Newman back on Sept. 12, 1-0. They are currently at the top of the SAC table with 18 points, five points ahead of Tusculum.

Behind C-N is Queens in sixth, a side the Eagles just defeated on Oct. 13 to snap a three-match winless skid in a 3-1 decision. The Royals are currently 7-3-1 on the season.

Barton is seventh in the rankings at 6-2-1 followed by Lincoln Memorial at eighth with a 6-3-2 clip. The Eagles also took down the Railsplitters on Sept. 19, 3-2.

Updated rankings will be released each Wednesday through the end of October leading up to the national selection show on Nov. 5 at 6 p.m. EDT.

The Eagles look to boost their resume in a midweek matchup with Mars Hill on Wednesday night at McCown Field. That match will begin at 7:30 p.m. from McCown Field. Those who cannot be in attendance and encouraged to tune into the live broadcast from the Eagle Sports Network at cneagles.com/live.
