Karlsen dubbed D2CCA All-Region selection

NEWBERRY, S.C. – For the first time in his career, Tobias Solem Karlsen has been tabbed an All-Southeast Region player as announced by the Division II Conference Commissioners' Association on Wednesday.

The junior forward is the fourth Eagle to receive an All-Region nod from the D2CCA since 2015 and is the 22nd player in program history to be named to an All-Region team.

This is his second postseason accolade this year, the first being the first-team All-South Atlantic Conference laurel he received in early November.

The Kongsvinger, Norway native closed out his 2018 campaign leading the team with 10 goals, 27 shots on goal and 22 points. He also tallied the most game-winning goals with five, tying second-best mark in a single season in program history that he set last year. Beyond that, his 67 shots this season were enough to push him to ninth on the individual season list.

On the career side, he is now third in C-N history for game-winners at 10 while sitting in a tie for ninth with 22 goals, seventh with 119 shots attempted and ninth with 47 shots on goal.

He recorded his third career hat trick in a 4-1 win over Coker on Sept. 22. The previous two came last season against Clayton State on Sept. 9, 2017 and then against Lincoln Memorial on Oct. 4, 2017, making him the first Eagle to ever have multiple hat tricks in a season.

In 2018, he had two other multi-goal games this season including the season opener at Clayton State on Sept. 1 and the SAC Quarterfinal at Queens. He scored two goals in both of those victories.

Karlsen was one of eight players from the SAC to land on the D2CCA's All-Southeast Region team this year.
