Robert Griswold Qualifies Second in S8 400M Freestyle at Paralympics

RIO de JANIERO, Brazil – Carson-Newman sophomore Robert Griswold (Freehold, NJ) swam in the S8 400m freestyle preliminary heat this morning in the 2016 Paralympics. Griswold swam the second fastest time in the qualifying round with a mark of 4.38.46, behind only British swimmer Oliver Hynd. That mark was good enough to put him in the final later today.

The final for the event is set for 4:44pm this evening and you can watch the livestream on TeamUSA.org. Griswold will be looking for his second medal in international competition as he won a bronze at the 2015 world championships.

The 400m free is the first of three events Griswold will be swimming in at the Paralympics. He will also be competing in the S8 100m backstroke on Tuesday the 13th and on the 17th, he'll swim in the SM8 200m individual. You can catch all the events live on TeamUSA.org.
