New national polls have both C-N swim programs inside the top-15

INDIANAPOLIS – Both Carson-Newman swim programs leaped spots in the latest collegeswimming.com national polls announced this morning.

Jordan Taylor's men jumped inside the top-10 to No. 7 after holding down the No. 11 spot in the Nov. 11 rankings release. The Eagles received 715.65 points to finish above Colorado Mesa (710.95), Northern Michigan (709.05), and Wingate (694.80) who all rounded out the top-10. The national ranking is the highest in program history since its inception in 2013.

After falling out of the top-25, the C-N women sit inside the top-15 in 14th receiving 655.05 points above Truman State at 649.75. The jump for the Eagles is 15 spots following its No. 29 placement last month as it dropped 11 spots.

"It just shows we're a force to be reckoned with in the nation," Coach Taylor said. "The quality athletes are getting a chance to perform. We knew coming into the year, the guy's team would show what they are made off a capable of doing. It's well deserved for them. Our sights are on maintaining that through conference and push our athletes for nationals. That would be a great way to set up for the end of the season.

"For the girls, they've struggled a little with injuries and illness so we haven't been at full strength but they're battling through it. Our relay teams were great getting national qualifying standards. I think they're in a great position. We're trying to hold that as well and sneak a few more positions as well."

For both of Taylor's sides, it's the highest national ranking of the season.

C-N's rankings are bolstered by their performance in Knoxville, Tenn. over the weekend in which the Eagles battled against Division I talent. They were the only Division II team in attendance over the three-day University of Tennessee Invitational in which Taylor's program set a multitude of program records.

The Eagles are off for over a month before they head to Indiana for the University of Indianapolis Invite on Jan. 12.
