JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman men's tennis team competed for the first time at home for the fall slate Saturday morning against Christian Brothers University.
"I was excited because it's the first time we've played at home." Coach Jim Frederick said. "I want to play at home more in the fall next year, we have a couple plans for a tournament so that will nice. It was fun for the kids not to have to travel and me as well."
The Eagles were not able pull out a win and fell 6-0. At number one singles for the Eagles was Gabriel Dabdab (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) fell to Paul Chabaud 4-6, 3-6. Rintaro Oka played at number two and was defeated by Atilio Flores 6-4, 6-3.
Marc Bantel (Germany) fell to Javier Saez in a well fought match, 7-5, 7-5 at number three for the Eagles. Jesus Bacete-Sanz (Madrid, Spain) competed at number four and lost to Alonso Reid. Joey Stiles played number five and fell to Marvin Gebhardt 6-3, 6-1. Daniel Cox rounded out the lineup at number six and fell to Philip Johnston 6-3, 7-5.
"The only thing I was interested in is everyone getting better from the last time we played." Coach Frederick said. "How well someone plays is a couple things , it's competing better, being positive, and obviously the results being a little bit better."
The Eagles will be back in action at the Belmont Abbey tournament on October 12thand 13thfor their final match of the fall season.
