Men's tennis moves into conference play against LMU Wednesday

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- Carson-Newman men's tennis prepare for their first conference match of the season on the road against the Lincoln Memorial Railsplitters in Harrogate, Tenn. on Wednesday.

The Eagles are coming off a tough loss against North Georgia in their first match home at Mossy Creek roughly ten days ago. After spending spring break working hard on the courts, the Eagles are ready to take on the 'Splitters.

LMU is 6-3 on the season but 0-1 in conference competition after falling to Catawba 5-2. They are returning five players that the Eagles faced last year when they went head to head at Mossy Creek. C-N ended up losing the five hour long match 8-1 with the only dub coming from Joseph Stiles (New Oxford, PA) at the No. 6 singles position prevailing against Carlos Zunino.

The 'Splitters came in at No. 4 in the South Atlantic Conference preseason coaches' poll and senior David Segarra was named to the preseason All-SAC Singles Second Team.

As for the Eagles, the player to watch is freshman Rintaro Oka (Narita, Japan) who is 5-3 so far in his debut season with C-N.

The Eagles will hit the road Wednesday morning and begin play at 2 p.m. at the LMU Tennis Complex. For more information, updates and results, check back on cneagles.com.
