JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. -- With just three matches left, Carson-Newman is nearing the end of the tennis season as they prepare to take on Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday for senior day at Mossy Creek.
"It's been a ride for sure," Coach Jim Frederick said. "They've had some tough matches and have had to grow a lot this season, but I'm proud of the guys."
After two wins in a row against Mars Hill and Catawba shortly after, the Eagles struggled to maintain the momentum and recently fell to Anderson (S.C.) and the University of the Cumberlands earlier in the week putting them at 3-15, 2-6 SAC on the season. Junior Gabriel Dabdab (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) however, has finally gotten his footing and has won his last five singles matches in a row to be a constant for the Eagles.
As for the Bears, they travel to Mossy Creek with a stout 14-8, 5-2 SAC record. With all but four players on the roster being upperclassmen, the Bears have a bit of experience under their belts and it shows with their No. 33 national ranking according to the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. They have climbed from No. 46 to No. 37, to No. 33 just this season.
Match play will begin at 1 p.m. between the two squads at the Buddy Catlett Tennis Complex at Mossy Creek. For updates, results and more information check back on cneagles.com.
