Men's soccer v. Mars Hill: The Eagles tallied two goals in the final 5:05 of regulation to erase a one-goal deficit and knock of the Mars Hill Lions 4-3 on the road on Sept. 23rd. Senior Sindre Welo (Trondheim, Norway) scored off a free kick in the 85th-minute to tie the score at 3-3 and senior Jules Gabbiadini (York, England) tallied the game-winner in the 89th-minute off a throw-in. Junior Marius Staalby (Trondheim, Norway) and freshman Thibault Mathorez (Graces, France) also scored in the contest for Carson-Newman.

Women's Basketball v. Columbus State: The Lady Eagles never held a lead against the sixth-ranked team in the country until redshirt-sophomore guard Katie Stubblefield (Alcoa, Tenn.) made a pair of free throws with 3.4 seconds remaining to give the Lady Eagles (4-0) a 70-68 victory. It was the first win for the program over a top-10 ranked team since January 17, 2009 when the Lady Eagles defeated fifth-ranked Tusculum 90-87 at Holt Fieldhouse. Carson-Newman trailed by as many as nine points in the fourth quarter at 62-53 with 6:34 to play in the game. In a rematch of the 2015 Southeast Region Quarterfinal, the Lady Eagles stopped the reigning region Player of the Year's, Michelle Mitchell, shot as the buzzer sounded.

Women's soccer v. L-R: Junior Julianne Herrity's (Donegal, Ireland) game-winning goal two minutes into the second overtime period completed Eagles' comeback as C-N knocked off the 13th-ranked and reigning South Atlantic Conference regular season champs Lenoir-Rhyne Bears on Sept. 16th at McCown Field the SAC opener. Freshman Varin Ness (Sogndal, Norway) tied the match with a goal off a free kick in the 75th-minute to force overtime at 2-2. C-N fell behind 2-1 in the 71st-minute after the Bears scored on a breakaway to take the lead. The win ended a seven-match losing skid to L-R and was the program's first win over a ranked team since 2009.

Volleyball vs. Anderson in SAC tournament: Second-seeded Carson-Newman was pushed to the limit by Anderson (S.C.) but survived 25-19, 22-25, 23-25, 31-29 and 15-13 after facing five match points in the fourth on Nov. 20th on the home court of the Trojans in the quarterfinals of the South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The fourth set featured 19 ties and 11 changes and Anderson (11-18) thought it won the match when the officials called sophomore setter Anna Patton (Franklin, Tenn.) for a backrow attack. Patton was in the front row and the officials, after a conversation, ruled for a replay of the point. A kill from freshman middle blocker Natalie Harris (Monroe, N.C.) closed out the set. It was the first time Carson-Newman won a set that required at least 30 points since winning the fourth set 30-28 versus Lincoln Memorial on November 16, 2012. The score was tied at 15 in the fifth before the Eagles won the final two points.
