Price praised as SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – For the second straight week, Haris Price has been named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week announced by the league Monday afternoon. It is an honor that the junior guard will share with Newberry guard Shelby Britten.

To open the season, Carson-Newman has had an individual win the honor in each of the first three weeks as Mika Wester (Newport, Tenn.) picked up the plaudit in week one.

The Gatlinburg, Tenn. native helped the Lady Eagles beat Shorter 109-53 on Tuesday before toppling Columbus State Sunday 119-91. Price average 21 points per game going 17-for-28 from the field with 10 assists, 10 rebounds and four steals.

In 20 minutes against the Hawks on Tuesday, the guard scored 16 points going 7-for-10 from the floor with four boards and three assists.

Against the defending region titlists, Price flirted with a triple-double scoring 26 points with a season-high seven assists and six rebounds.

Price is second in the country with 25 steals on the season, an average of 3.57 per night. The Volunteer State native is fifth in the SAC with 17.6 points per game, sixth in assists per game with 4.6 and seventh in free-throw percentage at 81.3.

As the point guard, she is leading the highest scoring offense in the country as C-N is averaging 100 points per night, 7.5 more than reigning National Champion Ashland. The Lady Eagles have score at least 115 points twice over the last three games. The rest of the conference has not accomplished one such game since Dec. 30, 2009 when Tusculum beat Virginia Intermont 117-38.

Offensively, C-N is second in the nation in triples per game at 10.7, seventh in field-goal percentage at 48.9, seventh in scoring margin at 28.1 and eighth in assists per game at 20.6
