NASHVILLE, Tenn. – For the second time in her career, Mika Wester earned the Tennessee Sports Writers Association Player of the Week Tuesday afternoon for her efforts against USC Aiken and Lander.

The senior forward also earned the honor on Nov. 14, 2017 doing so after big games against the same teams that helped her picked up the plaudit this season.

To open the season, the Newport, Tenn. native dropped 24 of her 26 points in the first half against USC Aiken going 11-for-14 from the field with five boards in 26 minutes. After scoring eight points in the first quarter, she went off for 16 in the second 10-minute session going 7-for-8 from the field.

"In the first half I feel like we had more sets and more time to get the ball to the post," Wester said. "In the third quarter, they got tired and we were in really good shape. We were in their face every time they turned around."

The left-hander notched 17 points on 7-for-13 shooting with seven rebounds in an 89-84 victory over Lander on Saturday. Wester has now scored in double figures in 20 consecutive contests.

With her performances, the Western Carolina transfer's point total at Carson-Newman is 1,219 moving her into 10th on the school's scoring list, up from 13th to begin the year. That figure is 16th among active Division II players.
