Price secures fourth-career SAC Player of the Week

ROCK HILL, S.C. – Senior guard Haris Price was named the South Atlantic Conference Player of the Week for the fourth time in her career Monday morning by the league office.

The Gatlinburg, Tenn. native was lauded thrice as a junior, the most ever by a C-N player in a single season in school history. She joins Kayla Marosites who was honored on Nov. 19 as Lady Eagles to earn recognition from the league this season.

Price led the Orange and Blue to a 90-77 victory over Catawba on Saturday in the first game of 2019 for the club with a career-high 39 points on 16-for-20 shooting from the field.

It was the 11th-highest scoring output of the season for a Division II player. Of the players to shoot at least 80 percent in a game, Price had the most makes and attempts as St. Anselm's Shannon Ryan went 15-for-17, 88 percent, on Jan. 3 against Daeman.

The reigning conference Player of the Year added three steals and three rebounds while picking up two assists going 2-for-3 from deep and 5-for-6 from the line.

With her scoring effort, she continues to move up the program's scoring list with 1,052 at Carson-Newman to sit in 21st, six points shy of moving into the top 20.

With her scoring outburst, Price is fourth in the conference in scoring average at just under 17 while being one of the best free-throw shooters in the nation having missed just two of her 43 attempts.

Carson-Newman gets back to action Wednesday evening at 6 p.m. against 22nd-ranked and conference leader Anderson inside of Holt Fieldhouse.

"It's no secret we want to beat them and give them their first loss in the SAC," Price said. "We have to get our minds ready to be ready on Wednesday."

The Eagle Sports Network will have the call on 106.3 (WPFT-FM) and cneagles.com/live starting 15 minutes prior to the opening tap.
