JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Following a pair of victories this past week, Carson-Newman (8-1, 6-1 SAC) moved up one spot in both division II women's basketball national polls. The Lady Eagles moved up one spot in the Women's Basketball Coaches Association poll from 11 to 10 and in the Women's College Basketball media poll from six to five, both of which were announced Tuesday afternoon.

This is the sixth week in a row that the Lady Eagles have been ranked inside the top ten of either poll. It's now the second time this season that C-N has been ranked inside the top five of the media poll, having been ranked top ten by the media voters all season long. Moving back into the top ten of the coaches poll, it's now the third week that Carson-Newman has been ranked in the top ten by the WBCA.

In coach Mike Mincey's tenure, the program has now been ranked for 50 weeks holding 63-22 record when playing as a top 25 club.

Between both polls, Carson-Newman is one of just two teams in the Southeast region ranked. North Georgia moved to at No. 15 in the media poll with a 7-0 record and is ranked for the first time in the WBCA poll at No. 23. Carson-Newman plays at North Georgia on Dec. 21.

South Atlantic Conference foe Coker received votes in both polls. Belmont Abbey and Columbus State were among the teams to receive votes in the coaches poll while Francis Marion received votes in the media poll.

The Lady Eagles lead the country in assists per game with 21 and are third in scoring at 88.3 points per game, eight points more than any other team in the Southeast region.

Carson-Newman returns to action on Saturday for a second meeting in the past three weeks against Catawba. Tipoff is set 2:00 p.m. Coverage on the Eagle Sports Network begins at 1:45 with the AEC Countdown to Tipoff on MIX 105.5 (WSEV-FM, Sevierville) and online at cneagles.com/live.
