JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – No. 10/5 Carson-Newman (9-1, 7-1 SAC) hits the road for its final conference game before the start of a new calendar year, as it heads Limestone (4-6, 1-6 SAC) for a Wednesday afternoon contest at 2:00 p.m.
The Lady Eagles have already matched their road win total from 2023-24, after defeating Catawba 67-49 on Saturday afternoon. C-N is 4-1 on the road this season and is averaging nearly 80 points per game.
The sixth-best scoring offense in the country at 86.2 points per game, leads DII in assists per game at 20.8, while also holding the fifth-best assist to turnover ratio at 1.43. Defensively, C-N forces 23 turnovers per game and leads the conference in steals per game with 12.7.
After leading her team in scoring last time out, Lindsey Taylor (Maryville, Tenn.) moved up two spots to number eight on the all-time scoring list with 1,388 career points. She is just 66 points away from passing Karen Miracle for seventh-most in program history. After grabbing eight rebounds against Catawba, Taylor is now tenth all-time in rebounds with 726. She is 12 rebounds away from passing Tiffany Parker for ninth-most all-time.
Campbell Penland's (Sevierville, Tenn.) 1,159 career points is 22nd in school history. She is 27 points from passing Zoriah Williams on the scoring list. Penland ranks first in the South Atlantic Conference in three-pointers made (28), three-point percentage (45.9) and three-point pointers made per game (2.80).
Carson-Newman dominated the first meeting in a matchup that was just ten days ago. In the 25-point win, the Lady Eagles got a season-high 48 points from their bench, the most bench points in a game since 2019. Jennifer Sullivan (Knoxville, Tenn.) scored a game-high 16 points for C-N. Mincey's squad converted 26 points off 26 Limestone turnovers and managed to shoot 47 percent from the field.
The Lady Eagles are unbeaten this season when shooting a better field goal percentage than their opponent and have won 23 straight games when that mark is achieved.
The first time these two teams met, Limestone was on a losing streak. It is still on that same losing streak, which has now extended to five straight games. Since the loss to C-N ten days ago, the Saints fell by two points at home to Mars Hill and then dropped a road affair with Wingate by 12 on Saturday. All five losses have come in conference play, with the win coming against Anderson by one on November 26.
At the Timken Center this season, Limestone is 4-2 with both losses coming in the past two weeks after winning its first four home games.
The Saints have won all five meetings in Gaffney in this series, with three of those wins over C-N coming by double-digits. Last season's 77-75 final at Limestone was the closest contest the two teams have played in a series with 11 meetings. Megan Watson drilled a three-pointer with 22 seconds left to lift Limestone to the win.
Reagan Kargo is the only player that averages double-figures in scoring at 10.5 per game. She was the only one to score double digits in the meeting ten days ago.
