Stevenson Sand Tournament opens with Eagle sweeps

Baltimore, MD.—The Carson-Newman beach volleyball team began the Stevenson Sand Tournament in impressive fashion as the Eagles swept both Morgan State and Lincoln Memorial 5-0 in day one of action Saturday afternoon.

"We had a successful first day at the tournament with two 5-0 sweeps which is extremely rare," coach Dave Franklin said following the wins. "All the credit goes to the girls for showing the competitiveness to control our side of the net. We have set ourselves up with an opportunity for a tournament victory which is a great incentive for our girls to be focused again. We're looking to the challenges of the day."

The Eagles notched wins No. 8 and 9 Saturday afternoon and will have a chance to clinch a tournament win with Stevenson Sunday morning.
