Eagles finish at sixth in Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Final Results

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – A tough final round on Tuesday saw the Eagles shoot 21 shots higher than their second round score as Carson-Newman closed out the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate with a sixth-place finish on Tuesday at the Sevierville Golf Club.

As a team, C-N carded a 324 in the final round, pushing them to a 937 total at 82-over par.

Anna Davenport (Roswell, Ga.), participating as an individual, was the only Eagle to see improvement in the final round as she shot a 75, her lowest round in the event. Her 239 total score at 26-over par was enough for a tie at 28th.

"Not a good day," head coach Suzanne Strudiwck said. "Only bright spot was Anna's 75. Team struggled with confidence, not sure why, but I didn't see many quality shots today by top-five players. A lot of unforced errors, 3-putting and bad chipping.

"We may have a shake up because of Anna's outstanding 75."

Elizabeth England (Oakland, Tenn.) was seven-over par on Tuesday with a 78. She moved down five spots on the leaderboard to a tie for 11th with a three-day total of 228, 15 shots above par.

The senior recorded one eagle shot in the tournament and was tied for the second-most par shots, shooting for even on 36 of the 54 holes she played.

Reagan Kinnie (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) also fell down the standings with a +10 showing in the third round with an 81, her highest score through the three days. She concluded the event at a tie for 16th with a 19-over total score of 232.

Five strokes behind her on the leaderboard was Taylor Hayes (Lake Ozark, Mo.). The junior also carded an 81 on Tuesday to finish in a tie for 22nd. She was +24 in the event with a 237.

Allie Fletcher (Cummming, Ga.) shot her highest round in the event with an 84.  Her cumulative score of 242 put her at 29-over par, which was enough to sit in a tie for 35th.

Matilda Frovenholt (Öjersjö, Sweden) made a substantial 13-spot fall down the leaderboard to a tie for 42nd by the end of the Intercollegiate.  She also carded her highest round score in the third with an 85, moving her total score to a 244, 31 shots above even.

Despite shooting two shots higher from the second to third rounds, Rachel Watts (Newport, Tenn.) was able to move up one spot to finish at 47th. She carded an 85 on Tuesday to become +39 in the event with a 252.

Jacksonville State's Valentina Giraldo was the overall champion in the event with a 210 total, landing her three-shots below par. Marshall's Kerri Parks took second at eight-over while Mariah Smith of Tennessee and Allyson Dunn on Tennessee Tech tied for third at nine-over par.

Jacksonville State was also the top team in the event with a +50 total score of 902. Marshall was second in the field with a 913 while Tennessee Tech took third with a 921.

The Eagles now turn their attention to their final tournament of the regular season at the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic on March 26 and 27.
