Two stroke improvement highlights Strudwick's third day at U.S. Senior Women's Open

WHEATON, Ill. – Carson-Newman women's golf head coach Suzanne Strudwick shaved two shots off of her scorecard from Friday to hold a share of 22nd at the end of the third round on Saturday at the U.S. Senior Women's Open.

Strudwick carded a birdie on hole five before a bogey and double bogey pushed her to two-over heading into the turn. The Blue and Orange coach shot even for six straight holes to open the back nine before shooting a bogey on the five par 16. She remained level for the final two holes of the day to close out Saturday with a +3 score of 76.

For a third-straight round, she hit 11-of-14 fairways for a tie at eighth in the category. She reached 13 greens in regulation for back-to-back rounds, as well.

Sitting 20 shots out of the lead, Strudwick now holds a 228 total at nine-over par as she prepares for the final day of the inaugural event. England's Laura Davies holds the outright lead after the third round thanks to a seven-under day, pushing her to -11 for the championship.

Strudwick hits the links one final time at the event with an 8:52 a.m. tee time on Sunday from the first hole. Live scoring will be available courtesy of USGA as the remaining golfers vie for a chance to become the first-ever champion of the historic tournament.
