Strudwick closes inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open tied for 21st

WHEATON, Ill. –  A mirror score of her 76 from Saturday helped Suzanne Strudwick to finish the USGA's inaugural U.S. Senior Women's Open in a tie for 21st on Sunday at the Chicago Golf Club.

The Carson-Newman women's golf head coach ended her time in the historic event firing a +3 showing in the last round, bringing her four-round score to a 12-over 304.

Strudwick had her best performance in the front nine for the entire tournament during Sunday's final round. She shot for birdie four times in that span before a bogey on nine placed her at three-under before the turn.

The Cheshire, England native's final nine holes of the tournament started with her carding a bogey on three of the four holes she faced. A double bogey on par-four 14 was the highest she would shoot on the day before heading into the clubhouse after a pair of additional bogeys and a birdie on 18.

Strudwick hit 11-of-14 fairways for a fourth-straight day, a tie for ninth-best in the pack with a 78.6-percent average, while finding 13 greens in regulation for a third-consecutive round.

Fellow England native Laura Davies maintained her lead throughout the final round to become the event's first champion at 16-under, a steep 10 strokes ahead of the field. Next closest to Davies was American Juli Inkster whose even final round brought her to -6 for the tournament.
