Final Results

OLD HICKORY, Tenn. – For the second-straight time this season, No. 25 Carson-Newman closed out an event in the top three of the field as it took a third-place finish at the Music City Invitational on Tuesday at the Old Hickory Country Club.

This is the second-straight top-three finish in the event after a second-place showing last year.

The Eagles shot a 312 in the final round to give them a 617 total through the two rounds of play, 25 shots out of first-place. They were 41-over for the event.

"I'm pleased with our overall finish in the tournament but we definitely have some areas to focus on before next week," coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "Great experience playing both rounds with UIndy and Grand Valley State who are the best teams in the country. Definitely shows us where we need to improve if we want to get to the top. I'm excited heading into Jekyll Island next week with this momentum."

Despite shooting eight shots higher on Tuesday, Reagan Kinnie (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) still led the team with an 11th-place finish. The junior was eight-over through the two rounds of play with an 80 in the second set of 18.

Kinnie shot a total of eight birdies in the event, the second-most of anyone in the field. She also tied for the third-best score on Par 3 holes with a one-under average of 2.88.

Maeve Cummins (Waringstown, Northern Ireland) finished one stroke behind Kinnie in a tie for 12th. She carded a three-over round of 75 on Tuesday finish nine-over with a 153 total.

The freshman was on par for 27 holes, the most of all participants.

Jayla Sims (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) shot a second-straight round of 78 on Tuesday to go 12-over. The sophomore's 156 total was good enough for a share of 20th.

Two shots behind Sims was junior Rachel Watts (Newport, Tenn.) in a tie for 30th. Her round of 81 on Tuesday moved her to 14-over for the event with a 158 total.

Watts tied for second on par 4 scoring with a +3 average score of 4.15 on such holes.

Anna Davenport (Roswell, Ga.) rounded out the team on the leaderboard with a share of 40th. The senior was three shots better in the final round with a 79, pushing her to 17-over with a 161 total.

Individual Elly Carlson (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was one shot better in the final day with an 82, giving the sophomore a 165 total. She tied for 56th in the event as 21-over.

UIndy's Pilar Echeverria went wire to wire through the event for the top medalist title. She shot a second-straight round of 70 to finish at four-under with a 140 total. Grand Valley State's Katie Chipman and Tiffin's Alice Putoud tie for second at two-over.

Top-ranked UIndy finished as the top team with rounds of 301 and 291 to give it a 592 total at 16-over par. No. 7 Grand Valley State finished seven shots out of the lead for second place.

The Eagles embrace a quick turnaround to wrap up their fall slate as they head to the Jekyll-O-Lantern Intercollegiate in Jekyll Island, Ga. on Oct. 29 and 30.
