Two Eagles improve as No. 25 C-N stays tied for fifth at Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate

Day Two Results

SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – No. 25 Carson-Newman retained its share of fifth-place following Monday's round of play in the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate at the Sevierville Golf Club.

The Eagles were one shot higher in the second round with a 308, giving them a 47-over two-round total at 615.

"I was very pleased with the performance today," coach Suzanne Strudwick said. "The conditions were difficult with sterling winds and wind chill of mid-40s. Better turnaround for Rachel (Watts) and Taylor (Hayes). Maeve (Cummins) and Reagan (Kinnie) are definitely showing why they are the No. 1 and 2 players on the team. Good solid performance, and we're looking for slightly better tomorrow as they are all very familiar with the conditions."

Reagan Kinnie (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) was three shots higher in the second round with a five-over round of 76. She moved down four spots on the leaderboard, into a tie for 12th-place. Through 36 holes, she is seven-over with a 149 total.

Like Kinnie, Maeve Cummins (Waringstown, Northern Ireland) also shot three-strokes higher on Monday, firing a 78 to land her in a tie for 19th. She is 11-over through two rounds with a 153.

Taylor Hayes (Lake Ozark, Mo.) made a substantial 14-spot leap up the leaderboard into a tie for 26th. She sits at 14-over with a 156 after carding a 76 on Monday, a four shot improvement from Sunday.

Four-shots behind her is Jayla Sims (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.), holding a share of 38th. She shot an 81 in the second round, moving her to 18-over through 36 holes with a 160.

Following her by one-stroke is Rachel Watts (Newport, Tenn.) with a 161 total for a tie for 41st. She improved her scoring by five shots between Sunday and Monday with a 78 in the second round. She is currently 19 shots over.

Holding a share of 50th is individual Allie Fletcher (Cumming, Ga.) at 23-over. She shot an 84 on Monday, a score that was three shots higher than what she saw in the first round.

For a second-straight round, Katie Medley (Cleveland, Tenn.), also playing as an individual, fired an 89, moving her up into a tie for 64th. She is now 36-over with a 178.

Samford stayed at the top of the pack through the second round with a 290, pushing its two-round total to an 11-over 579. Marshall moved into second at 15-over with Eastern Kentucky in third at 20-over.

On the player side, two of the top three players are from Samford with Emily Uhland moving into first at one-under so far in the tournament. Madeline Davis and Northern Kentucky's Lillian Young are ties for second, each at two-over with a 143 total.
