SEVIERVILLE, Tenn. – No. 25 Carson-Newman matched its best finish at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate with a fourth-place showing after scoring a 301 on Tuesday at the Sevierville Golf Club.

The last time Carson-Newman achieved this high of a finish was a tie for fourth in 2017.

The team's third round score marks its best round score in four appearances at the event. On the day, C-N carded the fourth-best team score of the field, pushing it to 33-over through the tournament with a 916 final.

Among the three Division-II teams in the D-I-heavy field, the Eagles finished at the highest spot on the leaderboard. They outscored Lee and Missouri-St. Louis by 10 and 37 holes, respectively.

"I mean, to play with Lee all three days, to play with some Division-I's that are really good teams and to beat them," Strudwick said. "Twelve teams, you know, there's only three Division-II and we finished the highest. Fantastic. I'm thrilled. I'm thrilled for our team. I'm thrilled for Carson-Newman."

Maeve Cummins (Waringstown, Northern Ireland) regained lost ground from Monday by firing a team-best 72 in the third round, giving her the 12th-place spot in the tournament. Her 72 matches her lowest round score on the season. The freshman was 12-over through the entire event with a 225 total, 10 spots out of first.

"She's the shortest hitter on the team but she is like a little bulldog," Strudwick said. "She is so competitive and she is hitting hybrids and four-woods into most par 4s, but she hits them closer than some of the girls she plays with and they're hitting seven-irons. She's just so determined and it's a great testament. The girls are really following in her footsteps and it's fantastic. I love it."

One shot behind Cummins was Reagan Kinnie (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) in a tie for 13th at 13-over. She was six-over in the final round with a 77, moving her 54-hole total to 226, the best score she has accumulated at the event in three appearances.

Taylor Hayes (Lake Ozark, Mo.) shot a second-straight round of 76 in the final day to tie for 23rd. The senior was 19-over through the event for a 232 total, matching her best 54-hole score this season. It is also her best finish at the event in her four-year career.

Jayla Sims (Soddy Daisy, Tenn.) fired her best round of the week with a 77 on Tuesday, helping her to move up into a tie for 32nd. She ended up at 24-over par with a 237.

Also making a jump up the leaderboard by the end of the tournament to tie with Sims was Rachel Watts (Newport, Tenn.). The junior shot the best round of her week with a 76 on Tuesday, moving her to a 237 overall. That also stands as her best score at the BNI in three appearances.

Individual Allie Fletcher (Cumming, Ga.) moved into a tie for 49th with a 31-oer total of 244. The junior's 79 on Tuesday was her best score of the week.

Katie Medley (Cleveland, Tenn.), playing as an individual, rounded out the Eagles on the leaderboard in a tie for 65th. She was two shots better than her identical first and second round scores with an 87 on Tuesday. She concluded the event at 52-over with a 265.

Samford held onto its first-place spot from Monday to take home the team title on Tuesday with a 25-over 877. Marshall was second at 26-over while Eastern Kentucky finished third at 33-over.

Samford's Emily Uhland was the top medalist at two-over with a 215. Marshall took second and third on the player leaderboard from Shelby Brauckmuller and Jakie Schmidt. They shot three-over and four-over, respectively.

Carson-Newman closes out the regular season with a quick turnaround to head to the Sunoco Campbell Oil Classic. That event will take place on March 25 and 26 from the River Landings Golf Club in Wallace, N.C.
