CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Carson-Newman brought in four All-American Scholar honors on Monday with Taylor Hayes, Anna Davenport, Rachel Watts and Matilda Frövenholt landing on the list from the Women's Golf Coaches Association.
This is the first time the Orange and Blue have been represented on the team since 2015 when Jessica Hart, Kelli Pemberton and Meredith Hawkins received the accolades.
A total of 1,097 women's collegiate golfers were recognized this year. The criteria for selection to the All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics. The minimum cumulative GPA is 3.50.
Hayes (Lake Ozark, Mo.) has been reeling in accolades since she wrapped up her career. She received the Kim Moore Spirit Award this year through the WGCA for her spirit toward the game of golf, her positive attitude on and off the course and being a role model for her team and mental toughness in facing challenges. She became the first golfer in team and conference history to receive the honor. She is also one of the nominees for the NCAA Woman of the Year.

She is the first Eagle since 2017 to land on the list.

She graduated in May with a degree in Accounting/Finance, holding a 3.87 GPA while also receiving credit in Masters-level courses during her senior year, allowing her to work toward the next milestone. She has an Eagle Scholar in every year of her career.
The C-N Alumna was the team's only four-year senior this season. She racked up the fifth-best scoring average for the program at 78.78 through 78 rounds of play. In the 2018-19 campaign, she played in eight events during her senior year. Hayes shot a season-low round of 74 at the Jekyll-O-Lantern Intercollegiate where she tied for third. She brought in a pair of top-five finishes.
Also wrapping up her senior year this past season, Davenport (Roswell, Ga.) made three starts on the year. This award comes after she graduated from C-N with a 4.0 GPA, Eagle Scholar status and degrees in Accounting and Spanish. She held a 77.9 scoring average through 11 events. She recorded three top 10 finishes with her best showing coming at the King Invitational where she notched a career-best finish, tying for second with a six-over 148, also a career-best 36 hole score.
Watts (Newport, Tenn.) started in all 10 events for the Eagles this past season and earned a 3.84 GPA with an Gold Eagle Scholar Accolade. She eclipsed top-10 finishes three times, including a tie for second at the King University Invitational. The junior scored a career-low 72 at the Jekyll-O-Lantern Intercollegiate to tie for sixth at six-over.
Frövenholt (Öjersjö, Sweden) saw playing time at five events while making the starting lineup at the Battle at Hilton Head and the Lady Cougar Classic. The sophomore scored a 78.8 average in 11 rounds. Her best finish of the season came at the Bob Dibble Classic where she tied for seventh. She carded a season-low 75 single round score twice. She currently holds a 4.0 GPA as a Platinum Eagle Scholar.
