Women's Soccer Preview: Eagles get Ready to Face Lees-McRae on Wednesday Afternoon

VIDEO: Simon Duffy Interview

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – After starting its season 2-0 at McCown Field, the Carson-Newman Eagles hit the road for the first time as they get set to take on the Lees-McRae Bobcats Wednesday afternoon.

Head coach Simon Duffy will play against the familiar face of the Bobcats who are in the Conference Carolinas alongside his former team in the King Tornado.

"It's going to be tough for us because with the weather and the conditions, it's different than what the girls are used to, even altitude wise," mentioned Duffy. "Very familiar with the team playing them every year when I was at King, so we'll need to be on our game."

Lees-McRae is 0-4 against South Atlantic Conference Opponents dating back to 2016, which includes a loss to open up the 2017 season to Newberry, who defeated the Bobcats 2-0 on August 31.

The Bobcats were picked to finish third in the 11-team league, after reaching the conference semifinals a year ago. L-M is led by goalkeeper Alexis Feely who recorded six clean sheets in the 2016 campaign.

Lees-McRae was Carson-Newman's first opponent when the program began in 1991, with the Bobcats topping the Eagles 4-0. C-N has won the last three meetings over Lees-McRae with the latest coming in a victory over the Bobcats last season 4-0. The last L-M win came in the 2011 season.

"We've scored some goals but we can still sharpen some things up with our movement," added Duffy. "Our forwards were mindful of that over the weekend, and when you get used to player tendencies we can do a lot better."

Game time in Banner Elk, N.C. is slated for 5:00 p.m. Lees-McRae will provide live stats for the event here. Carson-Newman will cover the game live from their twitter page at (@CNathletics).
