Kansas City, Kan. – Following a week in which coach Simon Duffy's squad went 1-1, the Carson-Newman Eagles dropped to No. 19 in the latest United Soccer Coaches National Top-25 poll released on Tuesday afternoon.

The Eagles (7-3, 5-1) also dropped one spot in the Southeast Region rankings to No. 3. Columbus State remains at No. 1 followed by North Georgia in the second spot. The top two teams in the region rankings following the season host the first wave of NCAA tournament matches.

"We know where we want to be when the end of the season comes," Duffy said. "Right now, a lot of the ranking stuff doesn't affect us all that much. We need to focus on one game at a time and we'll go from there but our staff and the girls realize what needs to be done moving forward. It's as simple as that.

C-N fell to Tusculum at McCown Field on Wednesday, Oct. 3 in a 2-1 final which saw the Eagles fight with a player down for 80 minutes.

Duffy's group bounced back on the weekend matchup with Anderson, who was the only unbeaten team left in South Atlantic Conference play. The Eagles outshot the Trojans 34-2 in the 2-0 victory.

Queens University (6-4, 2-3) awaits C-N on Saturday, Oct. 13 as the Eagles will look to hold its position at the top of the league table. C-N is currently tied with L-R in total points but owns two losses in conference games, one of which came to the Eagles earlier this season.
