NCAA Region Rankings

INDIANAPOLIS – In the NCAA's second region ranking release of 2018, No. 20 Carson-Newman Women's Soccer jumps a single spot occupying the No. 5 position in the Southeast Region.

The top two teams in each region will host the first round of the NCAA Tournament when the conference tournaments come to a close in early November. No. 1 nationally ranked Columbus State, a team in which C-N (10-3) faced to kick off the 2018 season, holds the top spot in the region sporting a 12-0-1 in-region record.

Limestone, the Eagles opponent slated on Oct. 24, holds the No. 2 position with a 13-1 record. North Georgia previously entered in at No. 2 last week but has fallen back two positions in the region.

Lander (10-2-1) and North Georgia (10-2-1) hold the two spots in front of the Eagles at four and five respectively with the Bearcats jumping one spot and the Nighthawks falling two back. Flagler (9-3-1) fell one spot to No. 6 after going 1-1 on the week essentially flipping places with C-N. Belmont Abbey (11-2) and Georgia College (9-3-3) round out the top eight with South Atlantic Conference member Lincoln Memorial (9-4) on the outside looking in replacing Catawba who was at No. 8.

The NCAA updates its region rankings every Wednesday through the end of the season until the teams are announced during its selection show which is scheduled to take place Monday, November 5.

"It's a good thing that we climbed a spot in the rankings but we still have a chance to keep moving up over the next week and that starts with Limestone," Coach Simon Duffy said. "Just like last week, it's still one game at a time and these polls still don't decide much at this point but there's still a lot of work left to do for us. Hopefully, we can continue to play our game to improve on those standings."

C-N wraps up the final week of the regular season with the matchup against the Saints and this weekend's finale against the Catawba College Catawba Indians on Oct. 27.
