United Soccer Coaches Release

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – For the third-consecutive season, Carson-Newman Women's Soccer forward Holly Talbut-Smith has received an academic honor for outstanding efforts in the classroom.

The Crawley, England native received third-team honors from the United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-South Region team as she maintained a 3.74-grade point average in exercise science.

"I am very proud to get this award as its so hard to balance schoolwork with soccer," Talbut-Smith said. "I couldn't have doine it without the help from the teachers and our coaching staff's here at C-N."

The South region, comprised of the Peach Belt, Conference Carolinas, and the South Atlantic Conference, was comprised of a first, second, and third team.

During her sophomore and junior years, Talbut-Smith also earned NCAA Division II Academic All-District honors.

"Delighted for Holly for doing what she has been able to do in her time here not just on the field but off of it as well," Coach Simon Duffy said. "As a coaching staff, we stress to our athletes the importance of school and how it helps us beyond soccer. She's definitely one of the seniors who has set the standard as a C-N student-athlete."

In her time as an Eagle, the forward has played a total of 84 games which sits fourth all-time in the program's history. Holly has accumulated 22 goals and 29 assists, the latter of which is third in school history. Of her 22 goals, 11 have been game-winners which is also top-five in the program.
