Softball wins NCAA statistical championship for triples per game

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Led by Kelli Hensley's (Knoxville, Tenn.) 10 triples, Carson-Newman softball finished the season as the NCAA's statistical champion for triples per game, the organization announced Friday. 

The Eagles notched 0.52 triples per game and 28 on the year.  Sara Kelley (Ooltwah, Tenn.), Haley Taylor (Strawberry Plain, Tenn.) and Brittany Bass (Duluth, Ga.) all had four triples for the Eagles this past season. 

C-N inched out the statistical championship over Colorado Mesa and its 0.50 triples per game. 

The Eagles started the season with triples in 10 of their first 12 games. The Eagles had two triples against Brevard, Concord and Anderson; and a season high three triples in their win over Tusculum in the South Atlantic Conference tournament.
