Siebert, Lockett bring home All-Region honors from Daktronics

MILLEDGEVILLE, Ga. – Carson-Newman outfielder Bre Lockett (Fontana, Calif.) and utility infielder Elayna Siebert (Knoxville, Tenn.) have both earned first team all-region honors from Daktronics, the organization announced Monday afternoon.

Siebert and Lockett's all-region accolades bring Carson-Newman's all-time total to 27.  It marks the first time in five years that Carson-Newman has had multiple players make an all-region first team.

In 2013, Brittany Hefner was named Southeast Region Player of the Year by Daktronics.  However, she was the only Eagle listed on the first team.  Bri Shoemake, Siebert and Kelli Hensley all brought home second team all-region honors that season.

Lockett also garnered first team all-SAC honors after leading the league in batting average (.452), on-base percentage (.545) and slugging (.841).

A two-time SAC Player of the Week, National Women Play Ball DII Athlete of the Week and TSWA Player of the Week, she is top 30 in the nation with her batting average and is tied for fourth in the league with 13 home runs and fourth in the league with 55 RBI. –

Lockett has three, four-hit games this season (Bluefield State, Fort Valley State and Tusculum), and she set Carson-Newman's single game records against the Blues for home runs (three), RBI (nine) and total bases (13).

She scored a school record five runs against Fort Valley State. Lockett put together a 12-game hitting streak where, among which included nine straight mutli-hit games. She has a team-best 18 multi-hit games this season and a team-best 11 mutli-RBI games.

Siebert came on late to finish as the runner up to Lockett for the league's batting title with a .440 average (also good for 86th in the nation).  Siebert also earned first team all-conference and all-region honors as a freshman utility player.

In conference play only, Siebert is second in the league in HR (8), RBI (20) and total bases (50). She leads the league in conference play only with 19 runs scored.

Siebert put together the longest hitting streak of the season for an Eagle at 14 games. She has 17 multi-hit games and 14 multi-RBI games.

Siebert matched the school record for double in a game with a three-double game against Mars Hill.

The Peach Belt Conference (PBC) had 17 honorees on the two teams, while the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) had 10 and the Conference Carolinas one.

The first team selections will move on to the All-America ballot. The Daktronics All-America programs honor student-athletes in Division II athletic programs. The voting, nomination and calculations are all conducted by the school's sports information directors.

The Daktronics/Division II CCA All-America softball team is sponsored by Daktronics, Inc., an acknowledged world leader in scoring, timing and programmable display systems for virtually every sport at every level of competition. The teams are voted on by the members of D2SIDA, NCAA Division II Sports Information Directors Association.
