NORFOLK, Va. – The Carson-Newman women's swim team jumped from 20th to 17th in the latest edition of the College Swimming Coaches Association of America poll despite not competing in over a month.
The Eagles' last competition was a 197-64 drubbing of the Bellarmine Knights on Dec. 12th at Maddox Pool and are on a nine-meet win streak that dates back to the January 2014.
This season, freshman Olivia Winkler (Marietta, Ga.) and sophomore Margaret Stansberry (Knoxville, Tenn.) have each won Bluegrass Mountain Conference Swimmers of the Week plaudits.
The women are one of three BMC teams ranked in the top-25; defending champions Queens (N.C.) are atop the poll while Wingate is tied for fourth with Grand Valley State. UC – San Diego and Drury are tied for second to round out the top-five.
The C-N men's team is the top team in the receiving votes and are on the outskirts of the top-25.
The Eagles return to the water on Saturday as they travel to Emory, Va. for a tri-meet against the Emory & Henry Wasps and King (Tenn.) Tornado at the Emory & Henry Aquatics Center at noon.
