C-N Swim set for Quad meet on Saturday

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Both the men's and women's swim teams are slated to make an appearance in Milligan, Tennessee on Saturday at 4:00 p.m. Milligan, Warren Wilson, and Mars Hill will all be in attendance for the quad meet.

It will be the first competition for the Eagles since they competed in the Nova Invitational on the 13th & 14th of October.

The teams originally were scheduled to be in Atlanta, Georgia this weekend, but because of scheduling conflicts, Coach Jordan Taylor wanted his athletes to get back into the pool for some competition prior to the University of Tennessee Mid-Season Invitational at the end of this month.

"That's our big event that we are focused on right now," Taylor said of his top-ranked teams. "Just want them to get some more experience before then, and we've been training real hard for it."

C-N women's swim checks in at No. 3 in the collegeswimming.com rankings release on Oct. 16, while the men hold the No. 4 spot.

Neither team in the Quad meet is ranked, although individual swimmers will be tested in various events. The Mars Hill men's team ranks outside the top-25 in the collegeswimming.com national poll, where the Lions were voted 29th.

Both men's and women's swim teams at also hold top-25 positions in the 2017 Preseason College Swimming Coaches Association of America/TYR NCAA Division II Swimming & Diving Poll, which was announced on Oct. 17.

The women's team checks in tied for No. 18 in the rankings with Colorado Mesa receiving 38 points, while the men hold the No. 24 spot with 18 points.

"I am really pleased with the rankings, it's still early in the season but it highlights our depth and just how well we have started the season," Taylor stated. "Still a long way to go but we are putting ourselves in the place we want to and deserve to be."
