Seven Eagle swimmers turn in All-BMC times in day two of Championships

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The Carson-Newman men's and women's swim teams held steady in third-place following the day two finals of the Bluegrass Mountain Conference Championships. 

Queens leads the way on both sides at 380 points in the women's division and 614.50 in the men's. Wingate comes in at No. 2 as well with 296 in the women's and 461.50 in the men.

The men C-N swimmers have collected 386 points in two days and the women have tallied 183.

In the first event finals of day two, senior Lexy Raybon collected her second season-best swim of the BMC's, this time in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 5:11.30 which was good enough for a 10th place finish. The only teams with swimmers to finish ahead of Raybon were from the BMC in Queens and Wingate.

For the men in the same event, Marcelo Figueiredo bested his time during the prelims and collected a new season-best en route to an All-BMC time of 4:34.24. He became the first C-N swimmer of the Championships to be named All-BMC following an event final.

Paden Duke topped his prelim time from the morning session which became a new season-best for the sophomore. The Memphis, Tenn. native topped it again with a time of 4:45.50 and a 19th place finish.

Caleb Howell and Jon Lancaster collected All-BMC for their times in the 200 yard individual medley turning in fifth and sixth places respectively.

Howell held a season best in the event with a time of 1:49.95 while Lancaster came in at 1:50.02, his second-best time of the year.

Junior Lisa Postma collected All-BMC honors in the 50-yard freestyle with a time good enough for fifth place. The 23.45-second swim topped a new season-high.

Maggie Melhorn turned in a 7th-place time in the 200 yard individual medley which also topped a new best on the campaign at 2:04.39 as she was just shy of All-BMC for the event being topped by Bulldog Maike Hoener who had a time of 2:04.07.

Chad Andoljsek (20.75) and Jonny Goss (20.95) were just shy of All-Conference in the 50 yard free finishing in seventh and eighth places, with no more than .06 seconds separating Andoljsek and Royals' swimmer Mitch Harwood.

The C-N 400 yard medley team of Margaret Stansberry, Maggie Melhorn, Elly Culp & Lisa Postma were named All-Conference in the event after their 3:47.73 swim put them in a third-place finish.
