CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Carson-Newman prepares for its final day at the Bluegrass Mountain Championships with both the men's and women's teams holding the third spot in the team rankings.

Queens have extended their first-place leads with 699 in the BMC women's division and 1116.50 in the men's.

The Wingate Bulldogs hold steady in second with 538 in the women's and 910.50 in the BMC men's division. C-N has 327 and 592 points respectively. The Limestone College men sit just behind the Eagles with 577 points of their own.

Most notably, Elly Culp, Caleb Howell & Margaret Stansberry lead C-N with All-BMC swims in multiple events heading into Saturday. Two of which for Culp and Stansberry have come in relay events for the Eagles.  Each have collected an individual All-Conference swim.

Following Saturday morning's preliminary swims, Kerry Holding and Eliza Petersen took second and third place in the 1650 yard freestyle for C-N. Holding topped her season-best time by five seconds touching the wall at 18:20.23. Petersen also bested her previous high by nearly 10 seconds coming in at 18:45.19.

Courtlyn Fields collected ninth-place in the 200 yard backstroke besting her previous season-high by nearly three seconds with a time of 2:08.63.

Senior Maggie Melhorn continues an impressive couple days in which she broke the school record in the 100 yard breaststroke twice on Friday, once in the prelims and again during the finals.

The Knoxville, Tenn. native collected the top spot in the 200 yard breaststroke this morning with a new best in the event on the year at 2:14.68.

Alex Nuyianes (2:23.74, 9th) and Bethany McNabb (2:28.46, 12th) earned their new campaign-bests in the event.

Margaret Stansberry can build on an already stellar career at the BMC's which features 15 career All-Conference swims.  Following the prelim swims this morning, she turned in a sixth-place time in the 100 yard freestyle at 51.70 seconds. Teammate Lisa Postma sat right outside the top-six with a time of 52.18.

Five other C-N swimmers rounded out the Top-22 in the event with Culp (52.76, 10th) and Elizabeth Gitto (55.85, 21st) earned new bests on the campaign.

CJ Jensen rounded out the top-six swimmers in the 200 yard butterfly finishing with a time of 2:07.33. The freshman collected her first All-BMC swim in the 400 yard individual medley yesterday.

Junior Jon Lancaster looks to add another All-BMC swim to his resume this evening after earning a new season-best in the 200 yard backstroke at 1:48.71 which sat him at No. 5. Lancaster was named swimmer of the meet following the BMC Championships his sophomore season.

Sophomore Caleb Howell credited himself with a new season-best in the 200 yard breaststroke at 2:01.52 and a 5th-place finish, looking to add another All-BMC swim.

Andrei Roman and Josh Terrell finished in the seventh and eight spots respectively as Roman looks to collect his second All-BMC swim of the week.

Paden Duke was a top-six finisher in the 1650 yard freestyle recording a new season-best in the event seven seconds better with a time of 16:48.09.

The finals are slated to begin at 5:00 p.m. from the Mecklenburg County Aquatic Center.
