C-N women's swim grabs four Academic All-District Team selections

GREENWOOD, Ind.- College Sports Communicators honored four Carson-Newman women's swimmers in the 2023-24 CSC Academic All-District Teams on Tuesday, April 2. 

Four Carson-Newman women's swimmers received CSC Swimming & Diving Academic All-District honors after the conclusion of the 2023-24 season. Emma Bowling, Antonia Sanint, Kyla Blakemore, and Breanna Belcher each earned recognition for their academic achievement. The full list of honorees can be found HERE

Bowling is a sophomore from Montgomery, Ala. Bowling is majoring in interior design and currently holds a 4.0 GPA. She was selected as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America Team. The teams will be announced Tuesday, April 23. Aside from academic success, Bowling became a two-time Honorable Mention All-American during the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships in mid-March. She contributed to an 11th-place finish in the women's 400-yard freestyle relay. She also competed in the women's 200-yard freestyle relay during nationals where the women earned Honorable Mention All-American status. 

Sanint is a senior for the Eagles from Bogota, Columbia. Sanint has a 3.87 GPA and is currently pursuing a double major in marketing and management. She is also in the running for the CSC Academic All-America Team. For C-N swim, Sanint contributed to the 200 and 400-yard freestyle relays at the 2024 NCAA DII Swimming & Diving Championships to garner Honorable Mention All-American status. Sanint won gold in the women's 200-yard breaststroke at the 2024 South Atlantic Conference Championships. She swam the race in 2:18.35, a new personal best time. 

Blakemore is a senior from Durban, South Africa who is majoring in communications. Blakemore has a 3.83 GPA and was selected as a finalist for the CSC Academic All-America Team. Along with her academic achievement, Blakemore became a two-time individual Honorable Mention All-American at the 2024 national championships. Blakemore placed 11th in Division II in the women's 100-yard backstroke after a 55.07-second performance in the consolation final for the event. She went on to finish 12th in the women's 200 back in 1:58.96. Blakemore also contributed to Honorable Mention All-American swims in the women's 200 and 400-yard medley relays. 

Belcher is majoring in history. The junior swimmer from Cleveland, Tenn. has a 3.72 GPA. She is in the running to join the CSC Academic All-America Team that will be released later this month. Blecher contributed to the women's 200 and 400 medley relays at the NCAA DII Championships. The Eagles earned Honorable Mention All-American status in both events. She also placed 17th in the women's 100 breast prelims in 1:03.21 at the national meet.
