Eagles bounce back against Indians

SALISBURY, N.C. – The Carson-Newman women's tennis took little time in defeating the Catawba Indians 8-1, on Sunday afternoon.

"Nice win for the women today." Carson-Newman tennis coach Jean Love said, "Played decently in doubles to go ahead 3-0. Then tough singles matches at the top of the lineup, Jill (Corsato-Owsianka) came through first with a straight set win. Then Alisa (Liashova) followed with a three set victory to secure the match."

Carson-Newman (4-5, 3-2) dominated in doubles play to gain early 3-0 lead over the Catawba Indians (10-7, 2-5). The No.1 doubles tandem of Ali Harris (Crossville, Tenn.) and Jill Corsato-Owsianka (Germany) won 8-3 against Sophie Hirsch and Olivia Wooldridge.
