Eagles conclude final regular season match falling to No. 15 Wingate on the road

WINGATE, N.C. -- Carson-Newman concluded their 2019  regular season on the road against the Wingate Bulldogs falling 6-0 Saturday afternoon.

Due to rain tampering with the schedule of the day, the match was pushed back to 4 p.m. Another two-hour rain delay caused it to be pushed back even further and resulted in the teams just playing singles rather than doubles to speed things up a bit.

At the No. 1 position, Ana Carla Resende (Minas Gerais, Brazil) took her match to three sets against Michela Verpelli but ultimately fell 3-6, 6-3, 1-6. At No. 2, Ali Harris (Crossville, Tenn.) was unable to win a game off of Alisa Rudenko and fell 6-0, 6-0.

Hannah Price (Knoxville, Tenn.) competed at the No. 3 position falling 6-3 in the first set against Chyi Lee. She had somewhat of a comeback in the second set but was cut short dropping it 7-5. Alisa Liashova (Ukraine) started off strong winning her first set 6-3 against Claudia de Andreis but was unable to muster a game thereafter falling in the second and third sets 6-0, 6-0 at No. 4 singles.

Rounding out the lineup for the Eagles was Abby Reis (Des Moines, IA.) and Klara Vuckovic (Germany) at No. 5 and No. 6. Reis fell 6-1, 6-0 to Camilla Ciaccia at No. 5 and Vuckovic only one a pair of games in both sets as she fell 6-2, 6-2 to Sydney Homan at No. 6.
