TAMPA, Fla. – Senior outside hitter Sara Fairley (Charlotte, N.C.) was picked as one of the 13 best players in the NCAA Division II Championship All-Tournament Team Saturday evening following the conclusion of the event.
"It means so much to have made it this far," Fairley said about her senior season. "We didn't expect coming into this season to be where we are. It's just great to have worked really hard and grown as a team and achieved all that we have."
The senior led the Eagles in the program's first match in the National Quarterfinals with 18 kills, five digs and three block assists.
In four total matches in the NCAA Division II Championships, Fairley piled up 56 kills, 3.5 kills per set and 44 digs with two matches of double-doubles. She tied the program record for service aces in an NCAA Championship match with four against Armstrong State on Dec. 4th in five sets.
The Academic All-Region selection finished the 2015 season with 424 total kills to put herself at 10th on the program's single season kills list.
Carson-Newman won 29 matches this season, the second-most in program history while winning the school's first Southeast Region Championship.
Wheeling Jesuit won the National Championship in a sweep of Palm Beach Atlantic Sunday afternoon.
