Dubarry added to Franklin’s staff for 2017

JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – The Carson-Newman volleyball coaching staff has been filled out as Dave Franklin announced the addition of Kody Dubarry as the head beach coach and assistant indoor coach for the 2017-18 season.

Dubarry becomes the fourth head coach in the history of Carson-Newman's beach program as he takes over for Kyle Peck.

Most recently, Dubarry spent two seasons as the top assistant at Stevens Institute of Technology men's volleyball program and first women's volleyball team. One of his key roles for Ducks was to study game film and process scouting reports.

Prior to his time in Hoboken, N.J., the Huntington Beach, Calif. native was an assistant coach with the Minot State women's volleyball program. He focused his coaching on passing and defense along with a great deal of work with the outside hitters.

In each of his three seasons, the Beavers grew and improved, beginning with a record of 2-18, improving to seven wins in 2013 and eight wins in 2014. Six players – two in each year – earned all-conference honors as DuBarry played a major role in helping the program transition from NAIA affiliation to NCAA Division II.

His role entailed practice planning and implementation, strategy, film work was a major player in the program's recruiting throughout his tenure on the Beavers' sidelines.

As a player, DuBarry played collegiately at the University of the Pacific in Stockton, Calif. after earning all-conference honors three times as a member of the Oceanview High School program.

The mentor began his coaching career in 2010 working as an assistant coach with the Palos Verdes High School program in addition to serving as an assistant with the Surf City Girls Volleyball Club. In November of 2011, DuBarry was named the head coach of the Surf City program and became the head coach of the Marina High School boy's team in February of 2012.
