Eagles place four on SAC All-Tournament team

ROCK HILL, S.C. – After finishing as runners up in the 2013 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Baseball Championship, Carson-Newman had four players selected to the league's all-tournament team.

Pitchers Chris Armstrong (Blain, Tenn.) and Dustin Dunagan (Winder, Ga.), as well as second baseman Bo Ausmus (Jefferson City, Tenn.) and centerfielder Cody Fox (Seymour, Tenn.) all made the all-tournament team.

No one pitched more innings (9.2) than Armstrong did in the SAC tournament.  The senior started and tossed a complete game in the Eagles opening victory over Catawba.  Then Armstrong fired two-thirds of an inning in relief on Sunday morning to help put C-N into the title game.  Armstrong did not allow an earned run throughout the tournament.

Dunagan helped propel C-N into the title game by pitching a gem in that Sunday morning 8-3 win over LMU. Dunagan notched career highs in strikeouts (eight) and innings pitched (8.1) en route to his first win of the season.

Ausmus landed on the team after slugging .800 (third among tournament participants) and was one of two players to blast a pair of homers through the weekend.  He hit .350 for the tournament with four extra base hits.

Fox cranked a walkoff double for the Eagles to beat Tusculum and stave off elimination in Saturday play.  The sophomore was second in the tournament in runs batted in with seven.

The Eagles travel to Lander Tuesday for a single game with the Bearcats. The Eagles' Wednesday makeup date with Ala.-Huntsville has been cancelled due to the threat of thunderstorms.
