JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Cameron Bloebaum and Dawson Sims combined to record the final 10 outs of the game not allowing a run as the Orange team evened Carson-Newman's Fall World Series with a 6-3 victory Friday afternoon at the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex.
Brayden Coe (Bridgeville, Pa.) started a one-out rally in the third inning with a base hit into center field. After a single and a walk, Coe crossed the plate on a sacrifice fly to right field by Kilian Daughtry (Simpsonville, S.C.) to open the scoring. Orange left the bases loaded in the stanza.
Two singles started the Orange half of the fourth. With runners at the corners, Charlie Brown (Sevierville, Tenn.) dribbled a ball to first base to bring home Mark Treadway (Friendsville, Tenn.) and push the margin to 2-0.
Blue scored three times in the bottom of the fourth to take a 3-2 lead. A wild pitch brought home Malik Kyle (Jefferson City, Tenn.) moving runners to second and third base with one out. Tyler Franklin (Jefferson City, Tenn.) lined a 0-2 pitch into right field to plate a pair and give his side a one-run lead.
Orange had the answer in the top of the fifth scoring twice to regain a 4-3 edge. Two singles and a walk loaded the bases for Treadway who reached on an infield single to third to tie the contest. After a popout to first, Brown drew a walk to bring home what would be the winning run.
Two errors allowed the Orange side to extend their advantage with Jordan Griffin (Ellerslie, Ga.) scoring on a wild throw from right field to third base and Treadway coming across on a fielding error at third to get the affair to the final tally of 6-3.
Treadway produced another solid day at the office for the winning side with four singles, two runs scored and a run batted in. Griffin reached base three times and scored twice and Brown tallied two RBIs.
Coe fired 3 2/3 innings on the rubber allowing three earned runs on five hits with three punch outs to add to his hit and run scored.
Tyler Thompson (Gallatin, Tenn.) has yet to be retired in the series tallying three hits and a hit batsmen on the day. He is now 6-for-6 with two walks and a hit by pitch across the two games for the Blue team.
Game three of the series is slated to be played on Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Silver Diamond Baseball Complex. There will be no audio stream at this time with the hope of broadcasting game four on Monday.
