2018-19: Signed a pro contract after graduation with MLP Academics Heidelberg in Germany's ProA league, the second highest division in the country.  He will be playing in the same league as former Lincoln Memorial standouts Dorian Pinson and Luquon Choice.  Teichmann joins Antoine Davis (Germany and Canada), Ish Sanders (Slovakia, Kosovo, Spain, Australia), Josh Rogers (Israel, England) and Charles Clark (Iceland), as the fifth Eagle to turn pro in the last six years.  Carson-Newman has the most professional basketball players in the SAC in that time span behind Lincoln Memorial and Queens, who have each produced six.  Teichmann will join Sanders, Rogers and Clark as active pros.  An All-SAC second team selection, Teichman was a warhorse on the court. Teichmann led the league averaging 35 minutes per game.  He was C-N's leader in scoring (14.5) and assists (4.7), and was third in rebounds (4.5).  He ranked fifth in the conference in assists.  Teichmann's 4.7 assist per game average registers as the fourth-highest single-season average in Carson-Newman men's basketball history. The senior's slash line was impressive.  He made 50.2 percent of his shots, 42.2 percent of his threes and 73.3 percent of his foul shots. Teichmann, Queens' Blake Morrow and Lenoir-Rhyne's Darius Simmons were the only players in the league this year to average at least 50 percent shooting from the field and 42 percent from three. Teichmann was the only player in that trio to average double figures. Teichmann matched his career high of 26 points on three occasions in his final season at the Creek.  He went for 26 in an 87-86 win at King and did it again in a road loss to Queens and a home win against Newberry.  He became the first player in 12 seasons to turn in a double-double with points and assists for Carson-Newman.  He had 16 points and 11 rebounds against Lees-McRae.  He wound up bringing home SAC and TSWA State Player of the Week honors for that effort when it was couples with his career-high matching performance at King. Teichmann scored in double figures 21 times this year and went on the plus side of 20 points on eight occasions.  He had at least five assists in 13 games this year.

HONORS:

  • All-SAC Second Team
  • Eagle Scholar
  • SAC Player of the Week (11/20)
  • TSWA Player of the Week (11/20)

2017-18: The South Atlantic Conference's and Carson-Newman's leader in assist-to-turnover ratio in his junior year at Mossy Creek, Teichmann was one of two players (the other was Charles Clark) to start all 31 games for the Eagles. Teichmann was fourth on the team in scoring with 11.1 points per game.  He added 4.5 rebounds and 3.87 assists per game while only turning it over 1.22 times per game.  Teichmann was highly efficient, shooting 50 percent from the field and 42.1 percent from beyond for his junior campaign.  He also made 70 percent of his free throws. Teichmann scored in double figures 19 times during the campaign and was especially effective late.  He closed the season on a seven-game double-figure scoring streak that featured his only two scoring efforts of the year that went for more than 20 points.  He hit his career high twice, going for 22 in the regular season finale against Wingate (2/24) and again in the SAC semifinals against No. 5 Queens (3/3). Teichmann came within spitting distance of a triple-double against Lenoir-Rhyne in Holt Fieldhouse with a 10-point, eight-rebound, eight-assist effort. He nearly pulled in a double-double against Queens in the semifinals with a career-high nine boards.  He also drilled a career-high five threes against the Royals.  He handed out at least five assists on 11 occasions, including a career-high nine against Anderson (1/31).

Honors:

  • Eagle Scholar

PRIOR TO CARSON-NEWMAN: Teichmann will have two years of eligibility remaining after spending his freshman and sophomore campaigns at Freed Hardeman University.  As a sophomore, he appeared in all 30 games the Lions played with 19 starts.  He wound up as the team's second leading scorer with 10.3 points per game, 4.1 boards a game and 98 assists against 35 turnovers on the year. He connected on 51 percent of his shots and 42 percent of his threes.  He scored a career high 27 points on Nov. 19, 2016 against Lindenwood-Belleville (Ill.). Teichmann had a strong freshman campaign with the Lions, as he averaged nearly five points per game off the bench while shooting 36 percent from the field.

HIGH SCHOOL: A high school star at Brentwood High School in Brentwood, Tenn., where he averaged 20.4 points and 5.8 rebounds per game. His career high was a 40-point game in the district semifinals his senior season.  He finished his career with over 1,100 points.  He garnered All-State, All-Mid State, All-Tournament and District Tournament MVP honors in high school while helping guide the Bruins to three straight state tournament appearances and a spot in the finals in 2015.

PERSONAL: The son of Jack and Caren Teichmann, he plans to study marketing at Carson-Newman.  His father played football for UT-Chattanooga, as did his brother Logan.  Another brother Kyle, played basketball at FHU as well.  Another brother Chase, is an assistant men's basketball coach at Florida College and helped coach Grant as a graduate assistant at FHU.
