JEFFERSON CITY, Tenn. – Four-time All-South Atlantic Conference pick Jake Headrick has been added to the men's golf coaching staff as a volunteer assistant coach, coach Randy Wylie announced Wednesday.

The four-time All-South Atlantic Conference selection makes the quick turn back to Mossy Creek just four months after wrapping up his playing time with the Eagles.

"It's great to have a former player with his experience on staff," Wylie said. "He is a level-headed, top of the line type of leader and player. His leader personality will really help the team learn how to stay calm and focused, especially when they face adversity."

The Maryville, Tenn. native played in 42 events during his time with the Orange and Blue, bringing in seven top-five finishes. He won two top medalist awards during his career with victories at the 2017 Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate and the 2017 McDonough Cup.

By the end of his career, Headrick racked up the fourth-best scoring average with a 73.51 through 117.5 rounds of play. He placed himself at fifth and sixth on the best scoring average list in a season with a 72.8 as a sophomore and 73.1 as a junior, respectively.

The lowest round score of his career came in his sophomore campaign when he shot a 66 in the final round of the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate, en route to an 11-under total of 205 to win the tournament. That single round marked the lowest round by an Eagle the entire season.

Headrick is the second former Eagle to join Wylie's staff as an assistant coach. Andrew Hall also served as an assistant after wrapping up his playing career in the spring of 2016.

Carson-Newman kicks off its season at the Aflac/Cougar Invitational in just over a week. The two-day event tees off September 23.
