Jefferson City, TN - Sophomore Andrei Ungur (Romania) received his first Bluegrass Mountain Conference Male Swimmer of the Week Award after his performance in C-N's home dual-meet against Lees-McRae College on Nov.16.

Ungur swam the 50-yard butterfly section of the team's 200-yard medley relay and secured a season-best time.

"I guess I've been waiting for a while to get back into swimming," Ungur said. "I've been practicing a lot to get these times and it just works out. If you work hard, you get the results."

The underclassman also secured the fourth-fastest time in the nation in the 200-yard backstroke.

"Last year, I was practicing more with the spring group which is not really for the 200," Ungur said. "Then, for this year, I started doing three times a week with mid-distance which helped me a lot in the 200."

Ungur and the Eagles travel to Knoxville, TN for the Tennessee Invitational from Nov.21 to Nov.23.
